Okay, we have dripless candles. But even "dripless" candles may drip
under some circumstances: When the air is not still, or if candle
holders are very close together. Here are some tips to help keep
your menorah looking like new:
- Spray "WAX OFF" into candle holders before inserting candles. If you don't have any "WAX OFF" left, try "PAM".
- We also have silver or gold drip guards just for menorahs--also a huge help.
- Keep candles in the freezer before using.
- After using, place menorah in freezer. Wax will harden and should come off easily. (NOTE: not all menorahs are "freezer friendly" . This works primarily with metal menorahs.)
- Hot
water (even up to boiling) can be poured in the sink over most brass
menorahs. I would not do this with silver-plated, sterling,
ceramic or glass ones, most of which can be cleaned running hot tap
water or using some liquid dish detergent on a sponge, or your
thumbnail.
The
above treatments may not be suitable for many menorahs. Common
sense must prevail and caution used! Here are some methods we
definitely DO NOT recommend:
- Placing in oven and setting to self-clean.
- Avoid the microwave, too!
- Hammer and chisel....trust me...not good.
- Throwing against wall...not good option unless you are very frustrated, or just plain want a new menorah, okay??
- "PAM" will not come to your house to spray your menorah for you!
HAPPY CHANUKAH!
